    The Green Coffee Buyer reports to the Vice President of Green Coffee Strategy.     The Green Coffee Buyer has the following essential duties and areas of responsibility:

    • Primary buyer of green (unroasted) coffee.
    • Effectively manages supply & demand of 30+ green coffee components (commercial & specialty-grade coffees); “owns” the green coffee inventory position.
    • Make strategical and tactical physical coffee buying decisions by deploying fundamental S&D analysis, reviewing technical indicators, macro and weather related factors - while being guided by SAP system generated demand forecasted requirements.
    • Buy according to Royal Cup Coffee green coffee specifications.
    • Data entry into SAP for all green coffee purchases and price fixations.
    • Execute and manage all customer and vendor price fixations.
    • Ensure timely and adequate supply of green coffee per forecast.
    • Reconcile Futures Brokers account daily.
    • Provide salesforce with updated market related cost differentials for sales to customers.
    • Compile and distribute bi-weekly internal market report to external and internal groups.
    • Responsible for meeting Production demand while minimizing inventory carrying costs.
    • Represent Royal Cup Coffee at coffee industry events and develop strong vendor relationships.
    • Travel to origin (2-3 weeks a year) for crop tours as well as establish or strengthen vendor relationships.
    • Support and travel with sales & marketing teams to customers.
    • Review blends and identify opportunities to reduce green coffee SKUs and/or lower costs while maintaining or improving quality.
    • Actively participate in daily coffee quality approval cuppings.
    • Reconcile coffee position and other coffee reports each period.
    • Complete required year-end audit reports and assist auditors as requested.


    • 4 year Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
    • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • 3+ years of coffee (or soft commodity buying experience candidates with strong SAP proficiency will also be considered).
    • Strong knowledge of coffee types & origins.
    • “Cupping” experience and knowledge of coffee flavor profiles.
    • Strong analytical experience and experience using analytics to drive business decisions and performance, including inventory management, highly preferred.
    • A self-starter showing initiative to be productive and address issues with minimal management oversight.
    • Strong organizational skills, with a focus on timely and accurate transactions.
    • Ability to multi-task; results orientated & proven ability to work under tight timeline pressure.
    • Good conversational & writing skills.
    • Very competent in using Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint).
    • High proficiency in SAP experience required.
    • Ability to work with and support others in a positive way.
    • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
