    We have an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Lab Tech I (QA1) in the Quality Assurance department of our production facility.  The Quality Assurance Lab Tech I (QA1) reports to the Quality Manager and is an entry level position.  The Quality Assurance Lab Tech I (QA1) will train in all areas of greater responsibility as Quality Assurance Lab Tech II (QA2)and Quality Assurance Lab Tech III (QA3) as skill proficiencies progress.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Equipment Operation / Testing / Maintenance:
      • Train and exhibit safe, efficient and proper operation of the following technical lab testing tools: oxygen analyzer, agtron, refractometer, ro-tap, and various brewing equipment.
    • Product Sampling:
      • Train and exhibit understanding of product specification sheets.
      • Train and exhibit competent understanding of the periodic sampling process and the sample retention program. 
      • Prepare and assist in the evaluation of coffee and tea samples according to desired specifications.  This will at times include sending samples to external third parties for evaluation.
      • Train and exhibit understanding of evaluation criteria used to identify non-conforming and out of spec issues.  Train and exhibit understanding of the investigation methods available to research root causes.
      • Train and exhibit understanding of how to prepare special samples for the sales, marketing and other departments as required.
    • Quality Assurance:
      • Train and exhibit understanding and competency in filing required paperwork.
      • Train and exhibit understanding of the hold and release program and how holds are tracked in designated spreadsheet.
      • Assist to monitor policy and procedure adherence of various plant departments.  Alert Lab Lead as required.
      • Assist to identify non-conforming and out of spec issues.  Alert Lab Lead as required.
    • Management & Communication:
      • Exhibit adherence to all Safety & Food Safety Requirements as well as all Royal Cup rules and policies.
      • Strive for work to be completed accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP’s, Quality and Food Safety requirements.
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and guidelines.

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    • Required Minimum: High School Diploma and/or equivalent (ie. GED).  Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is highly preferable.
    • After training, successfully exhibit a clear understanding of the purpose and the basic components of a Certificate Of Analysis (COA).
    • After training and through education or work experience be familiar with how to note key taste variances in coffee.
    • Basic Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Skills:
      • Ability to read, write and interpret specification sheets and other correspondence. 
      • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
      • Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
      • Beyond basic abilities with Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.
      • Capabilities required to UPS or FedEx packages.
