    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    From now until early 2019, this position will be located at 1500 1st Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203. In early 2019, the plant will be relocated to the main campus at 160 Cleage Drive, Birmingham, AL 35217.

     

    The Liquid Product Manager reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations and is a management role responsible for effectively supporting shift operations alongside the Packaging Manager, Roasting Manager, Quality Assurance and other Production Department Personnel. The Liquid Product Manager function has the following essential duties and areas of responsibility:

    • Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP’s, Quality and Food Safety requirements.
    • Build and develop a team of 15-20 technicians and operators to consistently achieve performance objectives in a safe work environment.
    • Maintain on-going knowledge and experience with proper operation of all production equipment. 
    • Ensure manufactured products are produced and available on time to fulfill customer orders.
    • Ensure product and package quality standards are being achieved at all times.
    • Ensure sanitation and housekeeping are maintained at expected levels, ensuring the plant in tour ready status, at all times.
    • Actively manage department activities to deliver against cost objectives.
    • Ensure the following quality control measures are successfully & timely identified when/if present and ensure issues are resolved:
    • Ability to put tape on the tape machine and adjust as needed for different products.
    • Ability to learn the entire process and become the process expert.
    • Ability to learn the CIP set up process to ensure all equipment and piping is sanitized properly.
    • Ability learn to make filler adjustments.
    • Ability to perform quality checks during the run, product fill levels, product temperature, cap torque setting, seals and appearance of package.
    • Ability to make sure all cases are presentable and sealed tightly.
    • Ability to perform product changeover.
    • Ability to set up ink jet printer.
    • Ability to set up bottle label applicator.
    • Ability to direct operator to ensure efficient utilization of man power.
    • Ability to make critical processing decisions.
    • Participate in “hands-on” work as needed.
    • Strict adherence to all company policies, procedures and safety rules.

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (for example a GED).  Bachelor’s Degree, highly preferred.
    • Minimum of 2-4+ years of manufacturing management experience.
    • Minimum of 4-6+ years of experience in an industrial or food manufacturing setting, highly preferred.  
    • Experience in a liquid manufacturing environment, highly preferred.
    • Demonstrable experience of being results focused, self-motivated and highly organized.
    • Demonstrable experience of stellar people management, team building/training and leadership.
    • Demonstrable experience with: analytical problem solving; examination/formulation of policy/procedure and strategy implementation.
    • Intermediate or higher user experience with all Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.  Prior experience with SAP is highly preferable.
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including permanent off shift assignment.
    • Willing to participate in “hands-on” work as needed.
    • Interested and capable of growing into positions of greater responsibility.
    • Ability to work with and support others in a positive way.
    • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position which are required to successfully perform each essential responsibility.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the core responsibilities.  These physical demands may include, among other functions:
      • Ability to safely climb up and down stairs, and stand and walk for extended periods of time.
      • Ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment to perform quality checks during the run, weights, seals and appearance of package by squeezing and physically handling packs.
      • Ability to lift up to 35lbs and carry 25lbs.
      • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as needed to stack product and to clean/maintain equipment.
      • Ability to balance and reach up and forward up to 48’’ and overhead up to 84’’ to access equipment, machinery, or product.
    • Must be at least hand jack certified or willing to train and acquire proper certification to prove safe operation.  Any forklift certification (Standup, Reach, Sit down) is a plus.
    • Ability to work within the work environment characteristics experienced while performing the essential functions for this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
      • Frequently working near production machinery and occasionally near hand jacks or forklifts.
