    Responsibilities

     POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Brewer will have the following essential duties and areas of responsibility (other duties may be assigned):

    • The ability to learn and understand the processes involved in the grinding and brewing of coffee.
    • The ability to learn and understand the processes involved in Quality Control of a food product.
    • The ability to learn and understand how to perform minor maintenance procedures as related to industrial grinding and brewing, and conveying equipment.
    • Transport and dispose of all refuse in proper containers.
    • Maintain the grinding and brewing area and all equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.  Keep the area “tour ready” at all times.  Follow the established sanitation schedule. 
    • Carry out all tasks in a safe and proper manner.
    • Provide backup coverage for the OP1, if needed.
    • Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP’s, Quality and Food Safety requirements.
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and guidelines.

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
    • Preferably, 1 year related experience in food manufacturing.
    • Must have a good attendance record.
    • Must have basic reasoning abilities, to include:
      • Applying common sense in carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
      • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include:
      • Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence, including machine operating instructions, safety instructions and any training materials.
      • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract and multiply using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume and distance.
      • Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
      • Basic inputs via keyboard and bar code scans into computer system.
      • Basic abilities with Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.
      • Prior experience with SAP is highly preferable.
    • Ability to work with and support others in a positive way.
    • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position which are required to successfully perform each essential responsibility.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the core responsibilities.  These physical demands may include, among other functions:
      • The ability to safely climb up and down ladders, stairs and into forklifts.
      • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
      • The ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment.
      • The ability to push 10lbs of force and pull up to 100lbs of force.
      • The ability to lift equipment or product up to 21lbs and with assistance up to 200lbs.
      • The ability to shovel product up 10lbs per shovel full up to 48’’ high.
      • The ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as needed to retrieve products.
      • The ability to reach up to 76’’ high and forward 30’’ to access equipment or product.
      • The ability to carry product with assistance up to 150lbs.
      • The ability to balance or walk on uneven or wet surfaces.
    • Must be at least hand jack certified or willing to train and acquire proper certification to prove safe operation.  Any forklift certification (Standup, Reach, Sit down) is a plus.
