    The Procurement: Category Sourcing Manager reports to the Vice President of Procurement and will share responsibility for achievement of Royal Cup’s strategic business goals as it relates to Procurement. The Category Sourcing Manager will have a proven track record in success in driving down total costs.  Change management experience and experience challenging the “status quo” are important; they should also bring initiative, passion, and an analytical/results-focused approach to problem solving in the strategic sourcing realm.  This is a new position for Royal Cup, as part of a greater investment in the Procurement team, and we are seeking a candidate that will help drive change through a collaborative, thoughtful approach to their commodity.


    The Category Sourcing Manager will be responsible for strategically managing approximately $100M in spend on consumer package goods that are sold in conjunction with coffee and tea to our customers.  Royal Cup refers to these materials as “Allied Goods,” which include but are not limited to disposables (e.g. cups, paper products, straws, etc.) single-serve coffees, creamers, foods / snacks & drinks, condiments, beverages (ready-to-drink teas, sodas, juices), and more. The primary initiative is to continuously reduce total costs for Royal Cup while simultaneously improving quality and service from our supply base.


    The Category Sourcing Manager has the following essential duties and areas of responsibility:

    • Manage and execute the sourcing strategy for assigned commodities and related vendor relationships.
    • Ability to lead, manage, and develop a small tactical Buyer team of one to three resources
    • Through effective management of their Buyer(s):
      • Ensure quality products are delivered on time to warehouses.
      • Ensure products are purchased at negotiated, established prices.
      • Ensure POs are issued accurately and on time.
    • Continuously focus on reducing the total cost of goods within their commodity, by applying an innovative, experienced approach to strategic sourcing methodology.
    • Publish and manage RFQ’s for current and potential new purchases.
    • Identify, evaluate, and select “best fit”, best price, and best service suppliers.
    • Manage successful cost negotiations with strategic suppliers.
    • Drive lower costs while maintaining and improving supplier metrics.
    • Improve capabilities for strategic sourcing processes, such as sampling, costing, quality assurance, PO management and logistics functions.
    • On an ongoing basis, monitor, evaluate, and work to improve the performance (e.g. quality, delivery, service levels) of their suppliers.
    • Perform ongoing supplier base research and analysis, and maintain and updated the assigned portfolio of supply options and sourcing trends.
    • Remain current on supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing.
    • Measure and track on a quarterly and period basis.
    • Perform other projects or duties as assigned by the VP of Procurement.


    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, supply chain management or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in a strategic sourcing role.
    • Proven track record of adding value to companies and providing strong contributions to a Procurement team.
    • Experience with managing a team of resources.
    • Proven ability to take necessary actions to rectify problems and improve situations.
    • Proven experience as a working Commodity Manager who excels in an evolving environment, handles pressure well and is self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks timely and efficiently.
    • Sound understanding of purchasing practices, general business financials, and negation strategies.
    • Proven advanced user level capability with all Microsoft Office Software, specifically Excel & PowerPoint.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – inclusive of presentation skills and ability to build relationships with employees, leadership and external business associates at any level.
    • ERP experience required, SAP experience preferred.
    • Procure-to-Pay experience a plus, e.g. Coupa or Ariba.
    • Ability to work with and support others in a positive way.
    • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
