Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Human Resources, the Director of Learning & Development has a high level of visibility within the organization and supports over 800 employees in 38 states. The Director of Learning & Development will have the following focus areas:

  • Commitment to Service Orientation, Collaboration & Communication
  • Dedication to servicing the needs of the organization, meeting quality standards, evaluation of effectiveness and realignment where necessary.
      • Collaboration with leadership and organization wide population to achieve goals.
      • Effective Communication – with internal and external partners to achieve goals.
  • Policy & Curriculum Development/Implementation
      • Collaborate with leadership to identify educational needs of the population(s).
      • Establish long-range and short-term objectives with specific strategies and action plans for achievement.
      • Assist in the facilitation of compliance training (EEOC, OSHA, FDA, SQF, etc.).
      • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia aids, and other educational materials.
      • Research, identify and implement training technological tools.
      • Conduct new hire orientation sessions and facilitate safety/quality training for new hires.
  • Maintain up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
  • Critical Thinking & Complex Problem Solving
  • Identify potential challenges, use logic/reasoning to evaluate/develop options and implement solutions considering the relative costs, benefits and potential outcomes.
  • Recruitment, Development & Mentorship of a Training Personnel
  • Resource Management
  • Aide in development of training budgets by strategic initiative.


  • Establish, in conjunction with appropriate field and office management staff, the training and development objectives and goals for employees; so that they will be productive and able to respond to future challenges.


  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5-10+ years in T&D or HRAbility to demonstrate proven leadership and service orientation.
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise & recent experience in:
      • Principles & Methods for Curriculum/Training Platform Design
      • Execution of Instruction of Individuals, Groups & Business Units
      • Selection & Utilization of Technology Tools Matched to Curriculum Goals
      • Measurement & Reporting of Curriculum Effectiveness
      • Performance Management System Administration
      • Project Management processes
  • Ability, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include:
    • Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence.
    • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
    • Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
    • Beyond basic abilities with Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position which are required to successfully perform each essential responsibility.
